Organic at ABODE
When we say a wine is organic, we’re talking about what happens in the vineyard – clean farming, no synthetic pesticides or fertilisers, and growers who care about the life in their soil as much as the fruit on the vines. It doesn’t make the wine “better” by default, but it usually means fresher fruit, healthier vineyards and a gentler footprint on the land.
Biodynamic – a step deeper
Biodynamic growers treat the vineyard like a living organism. Compost, cover crops and herbal preparations replace outside inputs, and work often follows a lunar and seasonal calendar. The idea is to bottle energy and balance – wines that feel alive, not engineered.
Natural wine – in the cellar
Natural wine usually starts with organic or biodynamic fruit, then keeps the winemaking as hands-off as possible: native yeast, no flavour-correcting tricks, little to no fining or filtration, and very low sulphur (or none at all). The result can be cloudy, playful, sometimes wild – but always a clearer line between vineyard and glass.
How it all ties together here
At ABODE, we’re not chasing labels for the sake of it. We look for growers who farm thoughtfully and make wine with restraint, whether it’s certified organic, biodynamic or simply done the right way. Think of it as: cleaner farming, fewer shortcuts, more character – poured for you on a rooftop that feels a little like home.
